Assurance IQ, LLC (“Assurance IQ”) values your business and your trust. We respect the privacy of your personal information and take seriously our responsibility to protect it. This privacy notice applies to current and former consumers, and is meant to describe what data we collect, what we do with it, including how we share it, and your right to opt out of such sharing.

Definitions

  • “Assurance IQ” or “us” or “our” or “we” refers to Assurance IQ, LLC and its affiliates, and not to our parent company, Prudential Financial, or any of its other subsidiaries.
  • “Information practices” refers to the collection, use, disclosure, sale, share, and retention of personal information.
  • “Website” or “Site” means www.assurance.com and any other Internet sites operated by us, our online services, mobile services, and software.
  • “You” and “your” means the user of our Websites and Services.

Scope

This Notice applies to our information practices in connection with seeking, applying, or obtaining a financial product or service pursuant to Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA).

Protecting Your Personal Information

We maintain physical, electronic, and technical safeguards to protect your personal information. Those who are authorized to access your personal information need it to do their jobs, and we require they keep that information secure and confidential.

Personal Information We Collect

We collect your personal information when you fill out applications and other forms, when you access, use, and/or enter personal information on our Websites, when you respond to our emails, and when you provide information over the telephone. We may also receive information about you and your interactions from third parties such as contracted parties, government data sources, and public data sources.

This information includes, for example:

  • Employment and occupation, demographic, income, and financial information
  • Social Security number
  • Transaction and interaction history
  • Medical information for insurance products and applications
  • Consumer reports from consumer reporting agencies

Using Your Information

We may use the information we collect for various business purposes, including:

  • To provide personalized Services to you. We use the information we collect to provide Services to you in a personalized way including offering a quote, processing transactions, maintaining and servicing your account or policy, and providing customer service. We may also use the information we collect to provide Services on behalf of financial service providers (e.g., insurance carriers, financial institutions). Many of the products we offer are complex, and consumers look to us to guide them to find the one that’s right for their needs and goals. The information we collect gives us a more detailed picture of who you are so we can help you find the right product.
  • To communicate with you and advertise to you. The information we collect may be used to communicate to you and with you for various purposes, which include but are not limited to:
    • Marketing/Promotional: Advertise products and services of Assurance IQ and other companies that may interest you.
    • Informational/Educational: Connect you with real people who can help walk you through your Service options, communicate to you about potential topics of interest, communicate to you about your financial service needs and interests.
    • Transactional: Facilitate and/or administer application, policy, or account information to you, inform you of product and Service information, and maintain a normal everyday business relationship.
    • Conversational: Chat with you for matters that you’ve requested, to provide a seamless customer service experience.
    Opting Out of Further Communication. Many of the products we offer are complex, and consumers look to us to guide. If you’d prefer we do not contact you, please opt-out of further communications from us by requesting to be placed on our Do Not Call list, by replying “STOP” to our text messages, by unsubscribing to our email list, or by using our Communication Opt-Out form.
  • To deploy Automated Tools: The technology and data science systems we deploy use some of the information we collect along with data analytics, modeling, machine learning, and other automated tooling to support and/or enable personalized recommendations and experiences. We aim to use such automated tools to support and assist you in making decisions for yourself. These tools are not intended to make decisions on your behalf.
  • To improve and debug our Services. We are constantly trying to improve our Services. The information we collect (including telemetry) may be used for investigations to address software defects, to conduct internal business research, and perform data analytics including data modeling. Specifically, we may use data and analyze user activities and behaviors to improve or adjust our Services, identify additional areas of interest, improve your experience, and improve the way with which we offer personalized recommendations.
  • To detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, or malicious activities. We respect your privacy and safety and therefore may use the information we collect to detect, investigate, prevent, or act on incidents, threats, and misuse of natural persons, your information, or our systems. This includes suspected theft, fraud, malicious, deceptive or illegal activities, or violations of our policies. As a result, we may also use the information we collect to verify your identity.
  • As required by governing law and for legal reasons. We operate in a regulated industry and therefore reserve the right to access, use, preserve, transfer or disclose information related to your use of our Services as reasonably necessary to do any of the following: comply with applicable law; respond to complaints, legal actions or governmental requests; enforce our Terms of Service; protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property; or respond to other similar matters. We may also use third-party services to record your actions on our Websites to help meet our compliance and legal obligations.
  • As part of a corporate change. We may use information about you as part of, or in preparation for, a change of control, restructuring, corporate change, or sale or transfer of assets.

We may also use personal information for any other purposes that we may specifically disclose at the time we collect your information.

Sharing Your Information with Affiliates and Third Parties

We may share your personal information as follows:

  • With other companies owned by or under common ownership as Assurance IQ. These companies may use your personal information in the same ways we do under this policy.
  • With our marketing affiliates and third-party partners. They may contact you to market our products and services or offer you their products and services when you agree that your information may be shared with them. We may tell you about a product or service that other companies offer and, if you choose to engage with that product or service, that company will know that we selected you to receive the information.
  • With third-party service providers who perform services for us or on our behalf. These companies assist us in providing and improving our personalized Services.
  • With other third parties as permitted or required by law or subpoena. If we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to (i) comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request; (ii) enforce our Terms, detect, prevent or address fraud, or to protect the security or integrity of our Websites and the products and services offered through our Websites; and/or (iii) exercise or protect the rights, property, or personal safety of us, our users or others.

Limiting Our Sharing

You may tell us not to share your personal information among Assurance IQ affiliates and other companies owned by or under common ownership as Assurance IQ for marketing purposes. To limit our sharing for these purposes:

You are not able to limit the sharing of your personal information among Assurance IQ affiliates and other companies owned by or under common ownership as Assurance IQ, for servicing and administration purposes.

We will not share your phone number with non-Assurance IQ companies for the purposes of text messaging. Only Assurance IQ or Assurance IQ’s partners who have obtained your prior express written consent will be able to contact you via text messaging.

Children

Our Website is directed to and is intended to be used only by persons who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe we inadvertently collected personal information from a child under the age of 18, please contact us at the www.assurance.com and we will use reasonable efforts to address.
